This Friday, Jimmy Ray Swagger and his band, The Fussy Eaters.
Recently transplanted to the Triangle area from their home in Cumby, TX, Jimmie Ray Swagger and his band The Fussy Eaters have been taking the East Coast country music establishment by storm. Their gritty songs of love, lust, addiction, malfeasance, and pain aim right for the heart.
Their debut recording Early Times for an Ancient Age was released in October 2015 and includes the Texas AM radio hits “Pinoche En La Noche”, “Jailmate” and “I Just Want To Please (Me)”.
Every Friday night from May to September, people come to the former cotton mill town in Chatham County, NC. Folks visit and talk as the crowd gathers. A food truck will be there - a variety of options this year… and there are plenty of restaurants just up the road. Cold drinks and frozen treats are sold in the store.
At 7pm the music starts. There is an outdoor stage (and an indoor stage in the store if it rains!). A different band each week: John Howie Jr, the Bluegrass Experience, Knee Deep, Neville’s Quarter… A pith helmet is passed to pay the band. Young and old dance.
There is room for the kids and toys and books... and screen doors for kids to learn to bang. No pets or alcohol. Fireflies. Sometimes thunder. Summer nights - listening to the clear voices and sweet songs melding with the cacophony from crickets, owls, tree frogs and toads. Not being able to tell if the white lights are fireflies or Christmas lights. 3/4 time. Not worrying. Not rushing. Just being. As twilight descends.
Come rock with us!
