The Historic Bynum General Store, built in 1934, needs our help. The foundation is slipping away and needs to be shored up and strengthened. The estimated cost is approximately $20,000 for repairs and drainage improvements along the foundation to make sure our beloved store can service many more generations of local and regional folks.
The building is used throughout the year as a community center as well as a music venue for local musicians and artists and is maintained by an all-volunteer nonprofit: the Bynum Front Porch.
On April 27 we will be kicking off our fund raising campaign to Save Our Store, starting with a fun filled afternoon of music. The music lineup includes our own Bynum Front Porch Pickers, as well as other local, well known musicians. There will be food and coffee trucks.
Seven bands include Bynum Front Porch Pickers at 3, The Regal Beagles at 4, Wyatt Easterling at 5, Gasoline Stove at 6, Danielle and the Young Foagies at 7, and New Direction Bluegrass at 8. Food trucks include Chewiess Coffe and Tacos Pariaso.
There is no cost to attend but a pith helmet will be passed for donations and a silent auction of some local artwork will be held inside. There is free parking adjacent to the grounds as well as a public park behind it.
