7 PM Friday Night Summer Music!

Dmitri Resnik, a native of Chatham County NC, began playing guitar at age 16 and has been plying his craft on stage for more than 30 years. He has eight CD's dating back to 1998 which have recieved substantial airplay and critical praise and he has appeared in 27 states in the U.S ., many provinces in Canada, and Italy. Resnik spent 12 years in New Orleans playing and touring with some of the best musicians in the city . As a member of the Noble Coyotes, he shared the stage with such notables as Anson Funderburgh, the Nighthawks and Johnny Adams among others. The band was also featured in a TV commercial for the legendary New Orleans watering hole the Rivershack Tavern . After years as a sideman Resnik started his own group in 1998. The band's first 2 CDs feature London session man and former Nick Lowe sideman Bob Andrews on keys and vocals. In 2001 Resnik moved back to Chatham County and continues to perform at clubs and occasional festivals. Resnik has won numerous Real Blues Magazine Awards, received AirPlay on Blues shows nationwide and had songs included on NPR's Cartalk.

At 7 PM the music starts. There is an outdoor stage (and an indoor stage in the store if it rains!). A different band each week: John Howie Jr, the Bluegrass Experience, Knee Deep, Neville’s Quarter… A pith helmet is passed to pay the band. Young and old dance.

There is room for the kids and toys and books... and screen doors for kids to learn to bang. No pets or alcohol. Fireflies. Sometimes thunder. Summer nights - listening to the clear voices and sweet songs melding with the cacophony from crickets, owls, tree frogs and toads. Not being able to tell if the white lights are fireflies or Christmas lights. 3/4 time. Not worrying. Not rushing. Just being. As twilight descends.

Come rock with us!

"Once you get that Bynum mud between your toes, you'll always come back!”

Bynum is a retired cotton mill village along the banks of the Haw River. The first mill was built around 1872. The town grew and became a vibrant community. Neighbors gathered to commiserate… and celebrate! Bynum General Store opened in 1936. There were five stores in town, a movie theater, and a school. The mill closed in 1983 and is just a memory now, but Bynum is almost as vibrant as years past! The longing to keep the community together continues to grow strong.

The Bynum Music Series began in 2001 to help sustain the Bynum General Store. When the Store's operator wanted to retire in 2006, Bynum neighbors banded together and created a non-profit organization called Bynum Front Porch. Our mission is to create family-friendly events and programs to celebrate the community’s rich history and bright future. The store was a historical landmark and is still the social center of the community.
